Hi everyone,
I'm just starting out with smartphone repairs and picked up a Samsung S21 to work on. Everything functions perfectly except there's absolutely no cellular signal. The SIM card is recognized, WiFi works fine, but zero network signal.
I've tested my SIM in another phone and it works perfectly with good signal, so it's definitely the phone.
From what I've read online, this issue is usually caused by the network chip needing to be desoldered and reballed since one of the solder balls might be cracked.
I think I've located the SOC that contains the network chip - there's Chinese writing on it so it looks like it's been replaced before. Do you think I should remove this metal shield and try reballing the network chip?
Any advice would be appreciated since I'm still learning!
Thanks
