    MSI Modern 15 B7M - MS14-JK1 (14JK1) - Intermittent Crashing - iGPU?

    Hey all,

    This laptop came in with hard resetting crashing, not even blue screening after a few minutes on the desktop, same result with Linux Mint.
    Strangely it seems stable plugged in on compatibility mode (nomodeset llvmpipe) which tells me I think the AMD Ryzen 7530u Radeon iGPU is cooked, but it also points to something strange with the buck converters or VRMs maybe.
    Inspecting the board under the scope there's nothing obvious.
    Crashes on charger and battery in iGPU Radeon drivers
    Crashes on battery in no driver mode
    Seemingly Stable in charger and no driver mode.

    Anyone with experience on this?

      Update: It appears actually to be an issue with the battery or related circuit, as it's been stable on integrated graphics with the battery unplugged on charger only.

          Update 2: nope still crashed, something is wrong with the board, I'll have to narrow down if it's a bad cap or crack in a solderball, or maybe failing PMU/VRM
