    Lenovo Yoga 12 LA-A342P usb not detected but does charging devices

    this laptop has been done by other tech...he did replace new usb port but problem still persist and early problem is both usb port not detected thumbdrive but it does charging device/phone...i need help to diagnos this problem

    Check the bios settings to be sure the USB ports are not disabled for security reasons.

    Attach a USB mouse - do you see the LED on the mouse light up? Check VBUS rail for 5 volts.

      bios setting enable....i attach usb mouse and it does have LED on the mouse sir but doesnt move cursor....wait i measure every pin on that usb

          See attached.

          Your load switch is not passing on the signals for the USB pins (D+, D-, etc.) - share a pic of that area.

              Remove all power. Meter in DIODE mode. Red meter lead to ground.

              Black meter lead to the point to test.

              Test each of the USB pins with the black meter lead. Post each measurement.

              If you do not see a voltage in DIODE mode then that pin is open circuit and is not mating back to the PCH USB host controller. There should be EMI filters between this USB connector under test and the host USB controller. Each mated pin must offer a voltage in diode mode.
