Hello guys,
Got my hands on this laptop and started troubleshooting. The only thing I know is it turned off and never came on. No lights and not coming on.
Started doing some checks and found the main rail present everywhere. Something weird though as the gate of the first input mosfet is 3.7V and the output is 20.3V.
Tried to trace the gate and it looks like it's connected to pin 61 on the io. Is the IO supposed to monitor the gate voltage?
5V and 3.3V are missing from the coils. Found by lifting PL6202(on the 5V rail) the clicking fet sound goes away.
Spent like 2 hours going around the board but could not find any short, but imo, it looks like the fets are turning off while detecting a short ?
Poked around PU6201(this IC has 5v, 4.5V3.3 around it) and found some pins are missing voltages ( gate for PQ6201)
Also, the gates on PU6201 are turning on and off. My meter detects mA before going to 0 on a loop. Is this the culprit or something else must be shorted?
Pin and 8 and 9 which are 3V_lx and bst are on 0v and 4.5V ?? Should I order this chip and replace it? Is it worth removing the resistor so I can isolate it from the mosfets and check pin 8/9 voltage to rule it out?
Any idea what to check
