Hi all,
Looking for some help on fixing a Acer Predator Triton 300.
When the laptop was given to me it was dead, wouldnt charge and no lights or life at all.
I quickly established that two MOSFETs were shorted and replaced them (the first MOSFET in the charging circuit and then also one of the MOSFETs for the CPU (see attached photo showing the MOSFETs replaced). I now have life in the laptop where the battery light now comes on and it charges the battery. When I press the power button the backlight on the keyboard comes to life (it has a keyboard light program where the keyboard lights up from side one to the other, I presume Acer decided it looked cool) but it doesnt POST. I have tried connecting to a HDMI monitor to confirm its not the screen. I've also tried removing the M2 drive, swapping the memory chips around, using a different memory chip from another working laptop.
I expected the BIOS was corrupt as there was no POST and so have used the replacement BIOS section of this forum to get a clean BIOS file and flashed it using a CH314A but it made no difference.
I dont have a thermal camera but was thinking maybe one of the other MOSFETs or something else could have died?
All advise gratefully received.
Many thanks,
Scott
