Dell Inspiron N5110 Turn ON/OFF Instantly..

    Hello,

I purchased a Dell Laptop with following specs:
    Inspiron N5110 Core i5 Second Generation 2430M
    4GB RAM
    500GB of HDD.

The laptop is fabulous working awesome till now, but two days ago, i used the laptop in the morning and unplugged the AC adapter closed the lid and went to sleep, in the afternoon when i tried to turn on the laptop, it simply didn't it power ups comes until Dell Logo and shuts down with no sound at all, the front Lids turn on but instantly turn off, if i hold the power button sometimes it reaches to Loading windows but then again shuts down automatically, i have tried all the common solutions like taking out battery and flea discharge and all basic steps, i closed the lid again and put it on charging the charging lid power ups but still no luck, any clue?

Please note that just now the laptop turned on Automatically and reached "Windows System Repair" and then turned off automatically and now its "Power Button" light and the setting key light blinks on and off after 4-5 seconds.

The computer wont boot at all, at dell logo it will immediately power off it self, and now it keeps turning on and off automatically... it reached "Windows Automatic Repair" then turned off automatically and power key and the setting key on top turns on and off automatically! Also yesterday when i plugged in charger the battery light turned on but today it didn't.

    Any help will be appreciated.

it looks like a thermal issue. Clean inside dust and change thermal gress.

      Hello Spidey,

Thanks for the reply, i never dismantled it not even i am a pro in this but i can go ahead and get equipment to do so, anyway, shall i show you a video of it !? I can conform there were no beeps or sounds on startup when it turns off, also now the charging Light doesnt lights up when i connect the charger this happened before when the battery was full, so this could be normal also If Thermal Greese for this can work well!? It has been an year or so i never cleaned it...!! I will do it but let me know about this too, Thanks.

charging is a different problem, you have to measure charging circuit and also need to confirm your battery is good. First dismantle it gently, and carefully. Remove cooler unit and dismantle it to clean the dust inside of it. Apply thermal gress like a thin layer, dont use it too much. good luck.

Ok surely i will do it, i have charging measurement Meter i got it but i dont know about internals like Cooler unit etc anyway i will get those videos, a few days back i ran a Regular Dell Diagnostic on system and it returned "Battery Life" Result: "Not Charging to Full capacity (Warning)" .. So i guess batttery could be another problem anyway, the day it started to happen was that the Battery status was orange which meant battery was low by then i charged it until Charging light went from white to off.
As of now i dont have thermal greese at home and there is no shop near by which can offer thermal greese so i will get it tomorrow and will gently dismantle it to check and apply the thermal greese.

So while now i tried to turn it on again i realised one thing if i press and hold the power button it works as soon as i unhold the power button it turns off but holding power button longer then 8 seconds will turn of it again too, also now i started and after dell logo this message came:

Warning: The battery cannot be identified, the system wont be able to charge the battery.

Strike F1 key to continue or press F2 to enter setup.

The battery was working fine the day before it happened also i checked the charger its output is 19.5 volt DC , i guess its fine then!?

              Hello Everyone,

Sorry about late reply, i actually got accidently broken the LCD Screw Ports somehow while opening but then i got it fixed by using Eproxy+Resin (Bertlins Hardner) took 24 hrs to seattle.

So the problem was the inside of the system was really dirty i then reached through this complex model to the CPU and GPU removed the existing Thermal Paste (Possibly Arctic S5) and applied the new one and then re-assembled and turned it back on and Voila it worked like a wonder! The system started up and is working really fine now, all thanks to Spide for pointing towards the thermal issue.

Thank you and please mark the thread as Solved!

                well done, nice job
one question, did you separate fan from cooler unit, as that is where the dust carpet builds up to block air flow???

I just recieved a working laptop for a quick dc port swap, i tested the laptop on battery it worked, tested dc port issue felt loose, so disassembled the laptop and removed battery connector, swapped the dc port, re-connected the battery connector, inserted dc pin, white led glowed up - stable, pressed power switch, but it didn't turn on, no fan spin and no display. just 1 white led that glows up, doesn't move to orange (charging), i check voltage (battery : 11.37v) (dc input port : 19.3v)(bios : 1.75), i am stumped, there is no shorting on board.
