by the way, not sure if this helps but I will restate what I said in the first post, that this laptop works fine running off the battery when there is no power cable plugged in.
Yes put them back in. I know the laptop works good except for the not charging part. After you remove PQ10 I I want you to check it. It's a Pchannel mosfet so put pos+ prove on pin 8 and neg- prove on pin 1. It should have reading one way only.
okay so with PQ10 removed the charging seems to work perfectly?! with no battery the battery pin is mV as observed in the other one, PL6 is 12.4V, when I put the battery in, the charging light turns on and doesn't cycle! so what does this mean?
pin1+ pin8- = no connection
pin1- pin8+ = 2.8 M ohms
PQ15 resistances (bad board good charge):
pin1+ pin8- = 1.6 M ohms
pin1- pin8+ = no connection
jees I have no idea what I have done, i think on the bad board good charge I could have got PQ13 and PQ15 mixed up or the wrong way round or something. (they do not have the text or pin1 mark anymore..)

thanks!
I'll try to explain what happened.
PQ10 MOSFET is to allow the power from Battery to +PWRSCR.
In this case PQ10 leak current in each direction.
This means that the 19V head directly to the Battery which cause problems.
You have to replace PQ10 with working one.
This was interesting project to follow thank you and Opamp.
I just replaced it and it is still doing the same thing. I think I mentioned at the start of this topic, I swapped PQ3 and PQ10 from board to board, the bad board still charges, and the good board doesn't.
By the way this is what I mean't before (I got the name wrong)
PQ10 resistances (good board bad charge):
pin1+ pin8- = no connection
pin1- pin8+ = 2.8 M ohms
PQ10 resistances (bad board good charge):
pin1+ pin8- = 1.6 M ohms
pin1- pin8+ = no connection
I swapped PQ13 and PQ15 from the old board because I think I damaged PQ15.. now there is no lights at all. I think I just didn't solder it back in place properly.
