    IBM thinkpad T40 time problems

    I my brother has a IBM think pad T40 and like a week ago he spill water wile the laptop was on and the laptop won't turn back on, we left the laptop on a ventilated area over night and the next morning I pout the battery back on and the laptop turn on right a way but the system time and date go off and I have to re entered, I replace the BIOS battery and boot OK, the date is OK but the time goes off.
    Any ideas of what may be the cause of the problem.
    the laptop is running windows XP professional.

      It may not have completely dried, and moisture is detuning an oscillator..
