Getting started repairing HP Chromebook 11a g8 EE Motherboards

Hello, I'm pretty new to component level repair and have only ever done things like replace headphone jacks or connectors, if those are even considered component level repairs. I have some Chromebook motherboards that are dead that I would like to practice on, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. I have HP Chromebook 11a g8 EE and HP Chromebook 11a g6 ee and their layout looks very similar. The issue that I have is there's power to the USB ports, but they don't actually turn on. There's no display output, and the way that usually flashes when it posts doesn't do anything. I was wondering how I would get started trying to fix these? I would guess to try to check the power rails to make sure that they are all intact, but I can't find a schematic, so I was wondering how I should go about starting besides just randomly probing for shorted things. The USB ports are getting 5 volts, so I would think that the 5volt rail is ok. I also poked around, and I think it seems like the voltages to the BIOS chip are correct or mostly correct from what I can tell, based on a working one.
