Hi Guys,

I need backup BIOS for my HP Elitedesk 705 G5 SFF. Are You able to help me with this? Already tried to flash my chip with the latest available BIOS on the website but I'm gettting an error message that file size is bigger than the chip capacity. I checked it's about 259KB bigger... and I cannot bring it alive back...

so hope someone of You can share his BISO backup for HP Elitedesk 705 G5 SFF.

there is no any serial on the chassis

unfortunately there is some problem with flashing... screen in attachment. any ideas how to fix it?

It's not the fault of the bios file, there are many support programs for CH341A, try changing it instead.

just uploaded with correct verification but still black screen and nothing happend.

what i have noticed more... I had 2 long beeps and 1 short after connecting first time power after flashing. tried to turn ON but nothign happend. device is turning ON, fan stars to work normally, but still black screen

after diasconnecting the power and connecting it again, don't have beeps anymore. I can get them all the time when I first time connecting the power to the device after flashing BIOS...

Does your device have another 8MB or 16Mb chip?
The files I posted are virgin bios, it should work when your problem is caused by bios error only.

ok there is some progress... i was able to successfully flash the BIOS, desktop is already waking up and I can try to go in into the BIOS but I'm getting bios admin password prompt... so it doesn't seem to be a clean/vergin BIOS version

No, that's a virgin bios, post file from 2nd spi chip ( 16MB)

ok, done. had to flash and clean also 2nd file...

BTW can You tell me please how can "fix/shrink" the latest BIOS file to make it OK/suiteable for chip size?? what I want to do is taking the BIOS bin file from the latest available BIOS version, which after extracting to the folder I can get BIOS bin file... but it is a little bit larger that the size/capacity of the chip where it seems that file size should be -> 16384KB and the BIN file from the latest availbe BIOS on the website (after extracting to the folder - R06_021500.bin) is 16643KB so it is 259KB larger than the size/capacity of the chip so flash programming software is showing me an error when I try to flash the BIOS with this file saying that file is larger than IC size...
can You tell me please what I can do to "prepare" this file for flashing? how and what I can remove from the BIN file to make it's size 16384KB what is requested for flashing?

sorry, I'm a beginner and have a few questions:

1. how did you know that starting 00040A60 that BIOS begins here under this address? how can I find out where BIOS begins if some new version will be released?

2. how did You add/open special editors on the right in HxD?

1. This is due to the experience gained when fixing bios for many types of machines.
2. That's the default, do nothing.

Is it possible to reprogram board from R06 to R09 bios platform. I've programed 25Q128JV memory with R09 but board wont to boot.
Is there any other memory that need to be flashed in ordet to work or R06 mainborad is differend in term of hardware then R09?
