You need to check the resistance on the + pole of the battery connector, should be in Mohms range, if you have it lower, then somethings draws too much power, most probably the chipset (where the cmos memory is located), as if i'm right there is not a lot other things connected to the CMOS battery, potentially also the Super I/O chip as it usually monitors the battery voltage and is connected almost directly to the battery. Often there are also a few passive/active compontents connected to the + pole of the battery (usually near the battery), a RC nerwork, or a key mosfet, cap (mlcc) or mosfet (eg. 7002) might have a short. Try to find a boardview or schematics.
