    PowerColor rx 5700xt dual fan : current sense resistor

    Hi everyone,

    I’m repairing a PowerColor RX 5700 XT Dual Fan (not the Red Devil or Red Dragon model) with a burnt pin 5 on its 6-pin PCIe connector.
    The previous owner had it repaired by a shop. They soldered an enameled wire to reconnect pin 5 to the current sense resistor (shunt).
    The card wasn’t displaying anything after this fix.
    When I inspected their work, I found that the sense resistor had fallen off after reheating the solder joint (likely due to damaged pads from resistor).
    I tried to resolder it with a hot air station, but the resistor wouldn’t stick—probably because the pads under resistor are damaged.

    Does anyone know the exact resistance value (in ohms) of the current sense resistor (shunt) for this GPU ?
    I suspect it’s in the 0.01Ω to 0.05Ω range perhaps less, but I need confirmation.

      I just bought some 0-ohm resistors. Do you think there’s any risk in replacing the missing shunt resistor with a 0-ohm resistor ?
      I’m asking because the original shunt was a low-value resistor (likely 0.01–0.05 ohms), and I’m not sure if using a 0-ohm resistor could cause issues like:
      • Instability in the voltage regulation (since the current sense feedback would be lost),
      • Overcurrent risks (if the GPU’s power controller can’t measure current properly)
      • Potential damage to the GPU or other components.
      Has anyone tried this on a PowerColor RX 5700 XT (or similar GPU) ?
      Any advice would be greatly appreciated !

        Hey Guys, not sure if this is correct part of forum to ask but, could anyone tell me what value this resistor is near the EC chip (ITE IT5571VQ-128) on a Lenovo Yoga Slim 6 14IRH8 motherboard please ?

        (in the image , i have de-soldered the resistor and moved it up so its not making contact on both sides)

        I am trying to repair an ancient Dell 2209WA Monitor which suddenly shut off with a pop sound. On investigation found that one of the fusible resistors had blown. Further investigation identified multiple components as faulty because of which the fusible resistor blew. Please refer the attached circuit diagram showing the components that were found to be damaged.

        1. FR950 - blown fusible resistor - 0.2 Ohm 1W
        2. Q950 - shorted Q950 MOSFET - 650V 10A N Channel Mosfet
        3. R835 - Blown Resistor - 20KOhm SMD resistor
        4. D930 - Shorted Schottkey Diode...

        Hi.

        Quick question.

        I have a laptop that is completely dead. I opened it up and it looks like the current sense resistor is blown. However, because it's blown, the value printed on the top has disintegrated and there is no schematic available for this particular laptop (Dynabook Portege) so I'm not sure what to replace it with.

        Hi to all forum members,

        Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
        The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

        Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
        Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

        Hi,

        I have this NANKADF WPS3010H 30V 10A PSU that I am in the process of repairing. During my troubleshooting, I noticed a missing resistor next to the TL494C chip.

        I have marked the missing resistor location in this image below:



        I'm aware Q3 and Q4 are missing. These were removed by me (waiting for replacement parts). I am just stuck on the missing resistor since I can't find any proper close-ups of this board online nor do any schematics/boardviews exist. I've come across some YouTube teardown videos of similar PSUs with the TL494C chip....
