intel d5400xs, post code 29, no boot

    Hello everyone!

I am trying to fix an old Intel D5400XS (Skulltrail) motherboard, which gets stuck in a loop on error post code 29 after successfully initialising the RAM and before the next code that is supposed to enumerate the PCI buses (post code 50).

I should point out that absolutely everything has been tested so far: resetting the BIOS, booting with a single CPU (cross-testing), with a single RAM module (each module tested), changing the power supply, changing the graphics card, disconnecting all peripherals... and that all the components work perfectly on another motherboard (I had two of them). So it is definitely a problem with the motherboard, which is ‘partially posting’ only, no matter what's on it.

I should also mention that the card has been inspected with a magnifying glass and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol. Zero improuvement.

I did not remove the heat sinks on the MOSFETs around the two CPUs. No swollen capacitors. No signs of oxidation or leakage. Visually, nothing suspicious.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Many thanks!

    Jo
