    Gigabyte B550M AORUS SuperIo

Hi i am currently trying to repair a Gigabyte B550M AORUS. One of the fan headers was handled wrong (fan splitter plugged wrong).
So far i found a short on the pwm line coming from the SuperIo (ITE IT8689CXS). I compared that to the other pwm channels they are not shorted to ground...
After removing the fan driver the short remains so i suggest the superio is faulty.
The board draws about 200 mA in idle and shows no reaction at all to the power button.
My next guess is to remove the superio to see if the short is gone afterwards but i wanted to check before because it sits half under a pcie slot...
However i cant find the exact model of superio only like 8689E bxa. Would that be compatible? Does it neet programming?
There are also aliexpress listings without the suffix like bxa or cxs only listed as 8689E...
Is even another type like the 8686 compatible ( it is considerable cheaper...)

Unfortunately, I think it needs a programming. Most of those special EC chips need some software. But you can usually program them over I²C or SPI or LPC. This task needs several steps overall. a) Buy the correct replacement part. b) Find the correct Firmware for the EC chip and Mainboard. c) Get a programming tool. d) Program this thing. I have never done this, but I know several sucessful trials.
