So the motherboard on my first build ever (which was 4-5 years ago) just went out, I believe its something on the 3.3v side of things, the VSB, about a week ago it wouldn't turn on, and I have gone through quite a few PSU's, about 1 every year, they lasted anywhere from 1.5yrs to 4 months, so I went and got another PSU, hooked it up and got nothing, frustrated I left it all hooked up and went outside to smoke a cigarette, when I come back in, its on and running.... I turn it off, try to turn it back on and nothing for a few button presses, after like 5 button presses it turns on and works perfectly fine from then on, minus the one time I shutdown windows and the PC stayed powered on with windows shutdown, that is until 2 days ago.
Woke up, went to turn it on and nothing.
So like usual when it doesn't start I disconnect the power, give it a bit to deenergize then I tried swapping the PSU just to check. still nothing, I swap back to the original PSU, and flip the power switch, I then hear a faint whine, which was inconsistent and eventually faded away, but I also noticed the LED for the BIOS Flashback+ was lightly illuminated. I tried wiggling wires and stuff to see if I got any reaction, but the light was random with both its frequency it was illuminated, as well as the brightness. When I press the flashback button it flashes as it should but stays mostly illuminated.... most of the time it came on as soon as I flip the switch, but a couple times it didnt illuminate until I flipped the power switch OFF.... when I first put power to it, it usually Illuminates and flickers and given enough time it will fade to almost nothing, but it is still visible in a dark room, just barely, So I'm thinking I have a short somewhere thats keeping the pwrsw circuit from dropping and flipping on the PSU..
If anyone has a schematic or boardview file for this Mobo I would be so grateful if you would share it with me, or if you have had an experience like this, or you have knowledge of these circuits and have any tips or can help in ANY way I would REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate it.
Please help me out if you can, I can't really afford a new one, plus its my first build and I would like to have it as long as possible.
I have repaired other electronics like Smartphones, DVD drives, Xboxs, PSP's, Car Stereo Amplifiers and such, so I know a little bit, but most of those were guided or simpler, this is probably the most complex thing I've ever tried to repair, ANY and ALL tips will be appreciated, I am far from experienced with this.
