    Asus IPILP-AR

Trashpicked a HP Slimline s3110.sc a while ago. It had a cooked Asus gf7500le card in it that i pulled out. The psu wires were cut of so i rewired the psu and it worked nice for a while, i had linux running from a usb stick. Then i stopped using it and it sat in the closet for about 3 months. Now that is pulled it out, it doesnt work anymore Put some ram in the little guy and powered it on, but got nothing on the display. DAFAQ? If i turn it on, the fan starts slow, sometimes high, and then gets slow. It speeds up and slows down a couple of times and then just stays on slow. No picture on the screen, and the power LED is orange. The caps seem to be good, this motherboard has all solid caps in the vrm and the rest are also solid or united chemicon. I am not suspecting the caps. What could be the problem? I have no idea. spec: c2d e6320, 2gb ddr2, no hdd, 180w psu, Ipilp-ar itx board. Anyone knows what to do? Nice little pc, dont want to throw it out.

R-cap the PSU. I have all the part numbers if you're interested, as I gave re-capped this model before.

Post a pic of the motherboard -- some of them use KZG by the VRM.

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

Yes. IIRC, you should find bloated Taicons in there.

I just dug up my diagram for the PSU...

13 caps in total, minus the primary which you should leave alone...

Combination of all Ltec and Taicon caps. Caps on the VRM low are polymers, but the VRM high caps might be UCC KZG series, in which case they should be replaced... The system I repaired is still alive and kicking, the customer brought it in a month ago for a Windows 7 upgrade. He loves the tiny thing.

Ok, im going to dig it out of my computer closet now and take some pictures. Im going to replace the UC KZGs first, i have some rubycom MBZs that i salvaged from a dead MSI K something series board (i think ) And if that does not help, then the psu caps. The psu is kind of nice actually, except the caps. It's a Delta, i have a delta 480w in my main pc (also hp) and its really well made.

            Edit: board picture http://www.upload.ee/image/2975592/Untitled_67.jpg
the caps marked in red are UC and the rest are solid. VRM solids are 16v and 2.5v, other solids are 2.5v and 6.3v. UCs are KZG, KZE and KMG And are all 6.3v, except the sound card ones. They are 16v and 25v, but they are small and probably OK. I think i will replace them with rubycons, the ones that i got are wider in diameter and taller, but the leads are the same disdance apart, so it should be fine?

Also, can i replace 10v psu caps with 16v?
Edit again: I checked the psu and no bloated caps in there. I also turned the computer on, and the fan is at full speed, and i had no memory in there. It did not beep. It should beep without memory!!!Ok, the kzg and kze are going rubys are going in!

Leave the KZE... Only replace KZG...

Yes, you can use a 16v cap instead of a 10v cap. I suggest you do a full PSU re-cap and plan it before just using random replacement parts.
