Traced the backlight issue to a shorted inverter transformer. The secondary was around 800 ohms rather than the ~950 of the other 5 good ones. Recapped it with panasonics while I was at it. SEARCHED big time for the xformer....no joy. Finally obtained part# LTWL-22 from LCDparts.net after matching up the resistance of several units. Had to elevate the new xformer above the board as it was a large square while the originals are long rectangles. So far, so good.
Now, what I've noticed is the upper 1 inch edge across the top shows a honeycomb pattern on the image. The large Lucite slab inside has this patern on the side facing the front, and I think I put it all back together in the right order. There were three thin sheets on top of the lucite slab, then the LCD itself. The pattern is noticeable a little on the lower left, while over 75% of the screen looks great.
Can anyone tell me why I'm seeing this weird honeycomb pattern?
Thanks in advance, and I post a few pics of the IP board Frankenstein I created shortly.
