I've been reading all the postings that have to do with this monitor(acer al1916w) and like the other ones, comes on for 15 -30 seconds then flickers and goes black but the "on" light stays green. Changed all caps(old ones were good),resoldered board, then I checked the voltage at OVPT and it was low so I soldered a 1M resister from Vdd to Pin 7(OVPT) on the OZ9938 16 pin inverter controller and now I have 2.2V there. Monitor worked better, I mean that it stayed on for about two-three minutes then flickered and went black. I remeasured the pin 7 and it was 2.2V but I also measured pin#6 (Vsen) and it showed close to 0v.Is there something else that I am missing that the membership advise me on?

Only the usual. I can't find a datasheet for an OZ9938; are you sure about the part number? Pictures of the top and bottom of the board would help. What replacement caps did you use? Did you try resoldering the transformer leads? Are you sure you don't have a bad CCFL?Originally posted by mmohr

I used Nichicon 105deg caps, I have the data sheet that I got from www.datasheet4u.com.Will enclose the circuit diagram.Comment

Nichicon is a good brand of cap, but just for reference, what series? I don't suspect the caps since the problem occurred with both old and new caps. Of course, the difficulties begin when you start ignoring potential causes.Originally posted by mmohr
The application diagram is very interesting; I don't think I have ever seen overvoltage and overcurrent protection implemented that way. Pictures of the back and front sides of the board are important at this point if we are going to figure out how to determine what is causing the protection circuit to shut the controller down.

I want to thank you for your input. It seems that the inverter board was cracked and after a while it lost the 2.2v at OVPT shutting down the mosfets that powered the display. Once again Thanks!Comment
