Samsung Syncmaster 225BW - Ghosting?

Greetings from sunny London,

A while back I picked up a 225 from Ebay which had the "2 seconds to black" fault & fixed it up with only moderate bad language thanks to the advice given on this forum. Hurrah!

However...

Of late it's developed a new quirk. Focus is normally pin sharp, but every so often it'll lose focus & display a ghost trail to the right of any text or image. Hurroo.

Sometimes it sorts itself out, other times it 'cures' itself. Rebooting doesn't seem to have any effect, but switching the screen off for a while can sort it... but not always.

Is this a known issue with the monitor or is it more likely to be my graphics card?

Try the easy things first.

1) Try a different video cord.

2) If you using VGA, try DVI.

3) Reseat and clean all your connectors inside the monitor.

4) Try another computer.

5) Make sure you have the latest graphics driver.

6) Check your refresh rate.

Thanks for those suggestions, the old XP box is due for a radical rebuild over the next 2-3 months (funds permitting), so I'll investigate further then.

It's only seeing occasional use at the moment as I'm away a lot on contract - just thought I'd put it out there & see if there were any fellow sufferers.

The connectors/cord sound likely culprits.
