    Try

Note members here are fairly good at fixing lcd monitors without a schematic.

If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

Please do not post inline and offsite as they slow down the loading of pages.

Strange! I posted a reply but for some reason it disappeared

      Thanks for the try retiredcaps

I'll start again but I'll make it much shorter. Tried that website but it was no help. There are two sites I found that want 18 to 20 bucks for a manual and that's not a guarantee the manuals are complete. FSM Samsung manuals don't have any details at all about the I/P.

Repairing without schematics (been there done that for more years than I can remember) is ok for shotgun trouble shooting but getting to the nitty gritty requires technical trouble shooting know how and we've all been there as well.

Any way I have two Samsung 940BX monitors that are dead. The culprits are the two PWI1704SV switch controllers. Unsoldered them and found two smt devices on both boards that are completely open. They are marked RA4 and RA6. Can't find a source for the sub board nor the transistors.

I can replace the enitre IP board with the identicals on Ebay for $23 ea. + shipping and about 3-5 week lead time.

Further research into the availablity of proper schematic and parts list documentation came up with so much confounding garbage that is not worth repairing. At least I can repair a Dell or HP monitor with little to no trouble. Sometimes I think Samsung does this to confound the repair industry in an effort to force customers to buy a new monitor.

I for one will no longer recommend my customers a Samsung computer monitor. There are so many vairation with each one different from the other within the same chassis number.

This goes beyond the scope of bulged caps and burn marks on the boards.

RA4 is a BAV70 made by Rohm. Not sure about the RA6.

There's also Viewsonic and Acer that tend to use a mismash of different power supplies for the same model monitor.

            Hey jetadm123,

Thanks alot for the info. Will repost after sucess or failure.
Another point I would like to make concerns the workmanship on that PowerNet sub board and that is the workmanship on the soldering job.
Put the board under a 30X microscope and most of the solder joints are cold and crystallized. some had very little solder on them. It reminds of the output of sodlering class for beginners.
