controlling a small engine throttle with an RC servo

I would like to control a small engine with an RC servo. I have the servos, and I have a way to control the servo. The small engine is turning a 24v DC Permanent magnet motor to work as a small 12v 200w generator. The problem I am having is keeping the output voltage steady under load.

This is the board to control the servo.

The device accepts 5 volts in to the green terminal and can control 3 servos.

this is all the information I can found on how this thing works.

What I would like to do is sense the voltage output of the generator and keep the voltage output as close to 24vdc as practical.

The output of the generator goes in to a buck converter that drops the voltage to 14.4vdc (if I remember correctly).

How can I sense the output voltage and control the servo?

To see the generator working (without a server) click this link

    speculation..."

Re: controlling a small engine throttle with an RC servo

You are going to have use a voltage divider off of the 24 volt motor that you are using as a generator ( so that your input to the servo controller never see more than 5 volts) [ you need check how the servo controller behaves with 0 volts input then at 5 volts ( does it behaves as you expect) in other words does do the following

[ ( at 0 volts input is the servo controller making your motor at maximum power—>
( at 5 volts input is the servo controller making your motor at minimum power—> ]

Is this the behavior that you are getting or is it opposite of this if this is the case then it going to be hard to do

You might have to use a very small value capacitor to smooth out small voltage spikes

You might also need use a micro controller to control the servo controller
