My friend gave me his psp today and it had one particular problem.
It seems perma-bricked. I can't even revive it with a magic memory stick as it won't read the card (or I didn't make it right this time).
He said that one day when he was playing Crisis Core the screen suddenly filled up with different colored lines and the speakers gave off a sound that sounded like "BLLAAAAAACREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE~" and after pulling the battery, reinstalling it and switching the thing on all he got was a green power light but nothing else. The UMD drive would not even spin up and flipping the switch again would not turn it off so you had to pull the battery to turn it off.
It can't be returned or repaired as it came from a pawn shop (to me it just screams "STOLEN" but he gave it to me to tinker with. Would anyone have a clue on what exactly happened? I already own (and love) a 1000 model PSP (with the M33-4 firmware of course) and it would be nice to get this working again as it not only has video output but also Skype support.
