    RCA LED60B55R120Q Bad T-CON?

I found an RCA 60" LED along the curb today. Plugging it in, I received lots of VERTICAL lines, so I thought "bad panel" and almost started to salvage boards and strips. Thinking about the symptoms, I began to suspect a bad T-CON. I removed one side of the connections from the T-CON and got this:

Removing the other side, I got this:

With both connected, I received a kaleidoscope of colors and flashing lights - the display wasn't static at all. Here are some pics:

Question: Is this guy hopeless with a bad panel, or is there a possibility that a new T-CON could save this guy. A new T-CON is $50, which is a lot to pay for a curb find gamble.

I would say it is more likely a panel issue as opposed to a tcon. If you look at the second picture, there is horizontal lines thru the connected side which usually points to side driver problems. The first picture appears to show significant "loading" on the drivers in the corner causing total darkness. My guess would be that someone did some "window washing". Since you have the set apart, check the bottom edge boards / tabs areas for "contamination" from "something".
