    LC470WUD panel 10bit to 8bit

Hi guys, i got a nice 42'' panel that in its specification needs 5 Even LVDS pairs and 5 Odd LVDS pairs, but i want to run it on 4 Even / Odd motherboard...

Is it possible to convert it from 10 bit to 8 bit LVDS system? Ie, if i dont connect the 5th pair on the Panel will it produce a picture?

I don't want to blow something up.... Thanks!

This is a good question. Curious if anyone has an answer!

Yup...interesting. Subscribed, since I must admit it's a bit over my head

If all the other connections are the same then I think it may well work.

are you looking to use this with universal tv boards? If so, I have used this card http://www.chinaglobalmall.com/products/563331866923 (sourced locally, no experience with this seller, link is just for reference) with similar panel LC320WUD https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/8...C320WUD-SBT1/1

the picture showed up and nothing blew up. I dont know yet how the quality of the picture is, my tv has backlight issues.

Interesting. I've run into this exact problem swapping LCD panels into LG tvs. Some are 8 bit and some are 10 bit and while the firmware allows a switch in the service menu, it's not supported... or at least nothing happens when you change it. Curious to see how this develops. Should have tried one of those boards in the link above.

Something fairly similar happened to me recently and it just popped in my brain upon reading this: I was messing around with some POS (no, really: point of sale ) terminals and their BIOS had an option for setting the LVDS type and I messed with that just to see what happens...can't remember what the values were, but one of them caused the screen to display two halves of one picture (one at the top the other at the bottom), while another one resulted in a mess of vertical colored bars all across the screen...I sh!t my pants at that point, I thought I broke it, because without any way of seeing what I was doing, I couldn't turn it back the way it was Thankfully removing the CMOS battery restored it, but still: something related to LVDS stuff which could've been actually what you're discussing about here.

Never had an answer whether 6ot4hr was successful or not.
