    That is exactly what I was looking for!! Data sheet helped me believe this was it!

    A short is not a good thing for this part...

    I will try a regular 400V PIV 1.5A to see if this is the culprit.
    Not sure what you mean by regular but needs to be a fast recovery rectifier.

    Not much around in those specs either. here's a quick search 1-2A rating

      Turns out from my other thread on the root problem: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51997 The actual problem was 2 other parts: IGBT FGD4536 and another diode F10A400HD. The actual final replacement I used was a fast recovery higher current 10A version: STTH10R04G-TR. I just got this one yesterday and hope to pop it in today and button it all up...
