I hope this can become a sticky! I made this thread for you to post the OEM manufacturers of TVs monitors and projectors. I'll share the ones I know!
Dell:
Plasma TVs are manufactured by Samsung Electronics. The panels are Samsung, engine is by Pixelworks and the tuners are Coretronic.
Projectors: Manufactured by Coretronic (a veteran projector maker, generally high quality, will be making a post titled Dell Projectors). Lamps are from OSRAM (stock only). A few older models were from Optoma.
Monitors: This varies, but as a scrapper I have found many Dell monitors to have BenQ internals (using the GENESIS engine of course, I've even seen some with a large BenQ logo on the main board!). Panels are usually LG Philips LCD in older models, nowadays Samsung. Power Boards are most likely made by Delta.
Dynex/Insignia:
CRT TVs: Almost always Orion. Look at a Dynex/Insignia 13" CRT, and put it next to a 13" Sansui or Orion CRT. Notice the difference? I don't. Now, some of Insignia's CRTs are Alibaba-sourced Chinese sets.
LCD TVs: Too complex to answer. panels mostly LG, most sets are just Chinese sets or Vestel.
Apex Digital:
Converter Boxes: Funny story, was dismantling an Apex converter box remote. LITERALLY said, right on the board, some Chinese manufacturer's logo and Alibaba URL! These are 100% sourced from Alibaba, Wal-Mart just sends them the logo and boom. Ematic does the same but Wal-Mart does not do the contacting.
TVs: Chinese subcontractors. A few Funai and Vestel sets under the Apex name floated around however.
Polaroid and Audiovox:
Most TVs made before 2009 are manufactured by Xiamen Overseas Electronics Company Co. (XOECO). On my 40 inch Polaroid set, I can VIVIDLY see a Samsung logo thru the vent on the panel, so the larger sets had Samsung panels. My smaller 2006 Polaroid TV had TCL/XOECO components, shared with a similar Audiovox set. After 2009, the same crap heap that did the Disney TVs, Starlite, branded Funai-manufactured sets Polaroid. 2013-present, Empire Electronics hires Chinese subcontractors to make Polaroid sets.
Emerson, Sylvania, Magnavox and Philips (after 1999, Philips DLP sets made by Philips), Symphonic: Funai.
That's all I know, help me grow the thread by sharing your knowledge!
