    This case that has to recheck different place to be absolutely sure.
    pin 8 is 0mV always on old board

      Ok. PIN 8 is ground.

      Good Charge Board.

      I'm afraid U33 has broken.

      You can check S5_ON signal should be PQ30 PIN 2 = High.

      If U33 is broken this voltage should not come.

      This works like this.

      1. Power Button pressed NBSWON go 3.3V -> 0V -> 3.3V. U33 chip.

      2. DNBSWON go 0V -> 3.3V. U33 chip.

      3. SUSB# and SUSC# go 0 -> 3.3V. Come from South Bridge

      4. S5_ON go 0 -> High this will turn S5 power ON. U33 chip.

      If 1, 2, 3, some state fail no S5_ON signal.

        voltages on PQ30 are
        0---300mV
        |____|
        --|
        9.1V

        what are the pin numbers for those by the way? so I dont have to draw those diagrams haha. there is letter like this:

        I----G
        |____|
        --|
        --O

          Re: HP Envy 15 cannot charge battery!

          That means:

          Input
          output
          ground

            According of datasheet I = PIN 2, G = PIN 1, O = PIN 3.

            So there is no S5_ON signal.

              okay, does that mean faulty U33 then? But it gets really hot, couldn't this be something else putting too much current into it?

                You are right, It may be possible. I have to investigate schematics.

                There is voltage inputs, but have to find way to measure them.

                Thanks, tip is very good.

                  U33 works only on 3.3v so any pin having voltage higher than that should be investigated.

                    I measured a few diodes around U33, D13 and D12, they are 3.33V, but I don't know if they have any relation to U33

                      Thanks, opamp.

                      Any suggestions?

                        Well you can start by checking the schematic type U33 in the find box and look on the top right corner you can check any of those pins to make sure is getting the correct voltage (3.3v).

                          Thanks opamp, well unfortunately I find it impossible to get a probe on a single pin without shorting its neighbours..

                            Excelent idea, there is even good places to measure those voltages.

                            There is capasitors like C736 they are connected together.

                            So it is enough to measure C736 and C657.

                              just put the neg- on a screw hole and you will be fine. Try sanding down tip to make pointier.

                                That would work to.

                                  well C736 is 3.3V, cant find C657 anywhere but I will keep looking, anyway I thought we established U33 was working before, as it was correctly enabling charge to PU11?

                                      I think there is different area on U33 and part of them will works.

                                      Is this Good charge not works board?

                                          remember i said before with the old board, when the battery is inserted with the power cable and the power button is pressed, the chipset gets very hot very quick, this means before I played around with it U33 worked yes? because it is responding to the power button.

                                          I just tried that again, battery and power cable plugged in and pressed the power button, and the chipset did not get hot at all, only U33
