    Compaq Presario CQ71 black screen

    Hello,
    I have a blackscreen at booting.
    I blow the double USB port at the right hand of the laptop.
    I had a normal functioning PC afterward except those 2 USB ports not functioning anymore.
    After opening the PC and closing it again the black screen problem started.
    This is what I 've done since:

    (All tests are with disconnected USB flat cable at the inside since the double USB port at right had side is not functioning anymore (my fault: I had put 12 V on USB SATA interface at a connector where 5V was inspected)).

    TEST with external POWER supply and BATTERY/no KEYBOARD/no HDD connected/: RAM inserted --> Power LED OK; Charging Led OK (temporarely till fully charged; Led at Numlock: continuously ON; Ventilator ON; Caps Lock light on;

    TEST without RAM inserted: LED at Video Out port: flikkers 3 times; led at Keyboard: same 3x
    (ERROR=always black screen)

    -Same results (LEDS) with or without laptop display connected;
    - external display after alt F4 or HDMI: no signal

    With HDD inserted and one stick of 512MB RAM/ no Keyboard: --> short flash of HDD-LED 3-4 secs on booting and then staying OFF; Black screen (also in dark room.)
    When I then push power button ¼ of a second, Compaq powers down immediately.

    I can access the HDD from a different PC over USB with SATA interface and it seems OK (I can read the files)

    I have checked my MOBO; Connector 1 (display) power at pin 39/40 :19V; no power at pin 38 and +3VLCD_CON pin 1-2-3.
    also checked disp_on signal: 0 V; Any ideas or advises??

    (ps You find the diagram here: )

          Hello, I have now 3.3V at VLCD_CON and on BLON_CON which is OK.
          No signal on VADJ1 or R526 / R524. What can be the cause?

                  Try to flash the bios. I think it will solve the problem.

                      You remove the bios chip and flash with any bios flasher. Do you have any bios programmer ?.

                        no I dont have .

                        but I could finally do a test with the keyboard connected (had forgotten it at friends home):
                        I have tested with different known good RAMS.
                        1/ I have put in both slots: 512MB 2Rx16 PC2 5300S 555 12
                        - when simply powering on: No beeps or led codes . (charge led is ON; POW led ON; HDDLED 2 or 3 sec.ON; numlockled on; Capslock led 1 sec on.
                        -when I pressed the power button with simult. pressing WIN B. Now I hear beeps: beep beep wait beep pattern. first and second are longer than the third beep. Guess this is long long short code for RAM; the caps led and numlockled are on. Each time the beep pattern starts I see a very short HDD activity (HDD Led flash). Screen remains black. When I release WIN B the capslockLED GOES OFF.

                        2/ test: With 1GB (1GB 2Rx8 pc2 5300S 555 12 EO) (in the deepest slot,
                        Without WIN B : only a few seconds HDDLED ON en then nothing.
                        with WIN B simultan: I have no beeps and no HDD activity.

                        With 1TIME same 1GB Ram in superficial slot:
                        without WIN B: as for 512MB
                        WIth WIN B: numlock and capslock 2sec on 2sec OFF , and beeps as with 512MB

                        Any ideas about the meaning? Thanks
