        Seeing there's no feedback from OP, I'll provide some ...

        I used SP85609.EXE under Windows 7 to update the BIOS of my ProBook5330m

        Everything appeared to go well until the final reboot of update process

        And it wouldn't reboot, each time only 5 slow blinks of Caps Lock LED then fan would speed up followed by notebook switching off

        So I desoldered SPI chip and reflashed it externally with the 8MB file from @mahmoodjavan's RAR

        Notebook then rebooted, with messages about being in factory initialized state

        My gratitude to mahmoodjavan
        better to keep quiet and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
