DOS program and USB to parallel adapter

One key program we use for our tv shop is DOS and is running fine on our
old server machine with two dot matrix printers hooked up to this.

Reason the old server hardware is past it's prime and is rather OLD and need to escape flaky 98 to XP (I have gotten this DOS program running fine in the DOS box on XP with a simple edit to the config.nt file.).

I realized that either I have to get different board with 2 PCI slots or USB to parallel adapter because this particular board only have one PCI slot and already taken by modem.

How does the USB to parallel adapter fare well with this DOS program?

    Cheers, Wizard

The one of boards I have on hand is one of options I could use for server is:

Asus M2NPV-VM has crock-full of rubyicons, nichicons and panasonic JS and FL caps,
and couple red poly caps. Uses Nvidia 6150 chipset.

Is it stable board for XP home as low use server or should I keep looking?

The usage is very light so no need for performance and I count on reliablity and NOT to corrupt data. Will 6150 be a issue if I use SATA drives? (Currently using PATA drives).

    Cheers, Wizard
