Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 Very Dim Video

I have a Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7016 with very dim video. If I shine a light on the screen, I can see the "Toshiba" logo during the boot process and the computer seems to work normal otherwise. I hooked up a monitor to the laptop and the video works normal through the monitor. I tested the screen to ensure the screen works normal which it does. I hooked the screen to another same model laptop and the screen powers on normally. The cables work fine and I've tested them on another similar board. The backlighting appears to come on during the boot process however, as I mentioned the screen lighting is very dim.

I've read this problem may be a result of the video chip not being fully connected properly and the chip needs to be re-flowed. And that the power to produce the image on the screen lighting goes through the video chip.

I've pretty much exhausted my testing and any recommendations would be appreciated!

Did you make sure the backlight isn't just turned all the way down? There's usually a key combination to change it, or it can sometimes be changed from within the OS.

Yup ....tried that with the keyboard attached! The screen should illuminate bright enough to show the Toshiba Logo during bootup, then dim based on OS settings.

I'm assuming it's either a surface mount fuse someplace on the board or it's the video chip however, I have never ran into this problem before. It appears others have had this same problem but, no one has posted a resolution anywhere. There's nothing even on the Toshiba website for this issue.
