This happened about 6 months ago. I'm glad someone got pics of it. I would have taken different pics, but thats what happens when non-tech people are asked to do tech stuff.
Oh well......anyway......the story goes, there was a failure of a processor on one of our systems at work. The boxes are Sun 280Rs. The tech went in. Smelled smoke. Went looking around for burned stuff. Didn't see anything right away. Then he took off the shroud around the one CPU card and this is what he found.
The tech tried to remove the card, but found that it had welded itself to the connector on the main board. You can sort of see it in the last pic. (Like I said, I would have taken better pics, but this is what we have.) I'm not sure what happened since I was in OKC at the time. I did get to see it just before it got shipped out though. He had to pry the card off.
Anyway.....thought y'all might like the pics.
