    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe SATA problem

The controller appears to be working correctly as far as I can tell... I see the controller in the (latest) BIOS and in Windows 2000 (I am booting from a SCSI HD)... When I connect the 300GB Seagate HD I have to the secondary master (the only good header), I see the drive in the BIOS but the computer hangs when booting into Windows or DOS...

Does anybody have any idea what I can try?

    Thanks.

How have you actually connected the drives? Is the SCSI connected to a SCSI PCI card? Is the 300Gb SATA? Secondary master can be a PATA config. We need more info.

      Thanks Dave....
The Silicon Image SATA controller calls the header Secondary Master. I realized that it may sound like a PATA config but it is ndeed SATA... The other header is unusable as it has broken pins, btw...

Yes, I have an Adaptec 39160 PCI SCSI controller for the boot drive and a second SCSI HD.
