for me, it depends on the motherboard and how much mem space it reserves for the pci address space. typically, award based bios motherboards e.g. gigabyte, reserve 512-768MB of pci address space depending on the video card used. so i typically put 32 bit windows on those for running 32 bit apps.
for ami bios based motherboards e.g. asus, they reserve around 768MB to 1GB of pci address space depending on the video card used. so i put 64 bit windows on those boards to reduce the wasted mem or reduce the mem loss on those boards.
so its different strokes for different folks as per one of my personal mottos.
