Input Filter Filling: How to Choose Components?
    by cheese007
Recently acquired one of those silly Logisys acrylic power supplies and lucked into getting one of the "better" ones (most of an input filter, bridge rectifier instead of 4 diode treatment, OK-sized heatsinks, etc.) and wanted to fill out what I can on the board + get some decent caps on there (especially the primary side since I highly doubt the ones in there are actually 1000uf). My questions are:

    1. How do I know what components to install re: the input filter? It seem to be missing an X cap, a resistor, and a Y cap.
    2. Where can I find a good heatsink for the bridge...

Looking for help in identifying Kuang Jin capacitor from PSU
    by chunk69
    Hi friends,

I recently acquired an old PC power supply (along with several vintage motherboards from late 90s/early 2000s). The PSU was dead upon first test, but quickly identified the internal fuse had blown. I fixed that, re-tested and i'm pleased to report it seemed to work great after that - no obvious issues or reasons for the fuse to blow.

Afterwards, I inspected the capacitors more closely and noticed one pair required replacement. They weren't in bad shape by any stretch of imagination, but one was slightly bulged, and I wanted to swap them out for good measure....

Power-One solar Inverter driving me NUTS!!!
    by mitsu2k
Hello folks, this is a last ditch effort. I thought I would seek your expertise before giving up.. I have been working on this thing for over 2 months and have gotten nowhere. Here is the issue:
Inverter powers on and immediately red GFI light comes on and inverter will not complete the initialization process.
There is no error code on the screen. I have removed most of the Y capacitors and tested to no avail.
    All relays are good.
I replaced the current transducer- same problem. Checked most of the transistors and diodes and all appear good. I wish I could get my hands...

    Hitachi 57F710E Power Issue
    by navagator
I have a Hitachi 57F710E Rear Projection TV that was working great until 3 or 4 days ago. I came in and tried to turn it on and it was just dead. So, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Nothing, not even the slight click that it makes when you plug it in. So, I removed the power supply board (It's a vertically mounted board, I believe model HA01312) and inspected it visually for bulged caps or burnt or overheated components, anything that didn't look right and couldn't find anything.

I noticed on the bottom of the board there was a row of solder joints with voltages printed next...

    Sceptre 48" TV backlight LED`s
    by spirittoo
Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

MacBook Pro 16" 2019 A2141 Issue (powers on)

Board powers on, holds charge it seems, track pad clicks, display is working etc. When trying to boot it turns itself off and then boots again and repeats. If it stays at GLOBE icon it will not turn off. Customer needs data, enabled THUNDERBOLT Mode, plugged in Thunderbolt cable, but error comes "THIS DISK CANNONT BE UNLOCKED DUE TO AN ERROR" I can't even input a password. Did a soft restore to retain data to see if it will solve any firmware issues. Nothing, I do not want to restore the computer because the customer needs the data, computer stays on completely when at Globe or...

Lenovo X280 - short on board, voltage injection pulling 4.9a but nothing heating up?
    by survivalbloke
This laptop came in for no power. I saw the board was not taking any power so I pulled the board and began testing. As you see in the photo, on those pair of mosfets, I had 20v into and out of mosfet 1 and 20v into mosfet 2, but only 3v out of mosfet 2. I found a location which was shorted and injected 1v5a and it took all the current, but nothing is heating up with the thermal camera and I can't for the life of me figure out how 5a isn't showing on thermal.

    Bosch WDU28560GB/02 washer-dryer - time jumps, blocked door, codes E60 and -09
    by mariukonie
Bosch WDU28560GB/02 washer-dryer. After selecting the spin program, the clock jumps from 0:13 immediately to 0:05 and counts down the minutes to zero. The pump turns on and the door locks, but nothing else happens, the drum doesn't spin. After the countdown ends, it does not open the door, it can only be opened by pulling the emergency handle next to the filter. No error is shown. When I select spinning and hold my finger in the lower left corner of the screen, after 5 seconds E60 and -09 are shown alternately. What could be the problem? Is it possible to turn on the service mode so that the washer-dryer...
