Vizio E701i-A3 Vizio logo flashing then turns off
    by Super360
Ok so here's the story. I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden I heard a pop from the back of the tv set and rushed to unplug the set. By this time the tv already had smoke coming out the back. It was not storming or inclement weather that day to cause a power surge to the best of my abilities. When I opened the tv up, I found that the three capacitors on the psu (highlighted in red) were all bulging and looked they had exploded. I replaced all of them right away and when I went to start up the tv after the "fix" it started just showing the flashing vizio logo as soon as power...

monowheel repair,Is the diode the problem?
    by NicRac
Hello everybody☺️ I am glad to be here and looking forward to a good discussion.

First of all, I am new here. Therefore I will shortly introduce myself.
I am Nico and currently I study Physics.
In my freetime I like to build and repair stuff. Especially big battery's.

A few years ago I got myself an electric unicycle, monowheel or however you call that.
The battery bms was broken so I replaced and resolder that. Nothing big.
I used this thing for some years and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately I used it last time in heavy rain. Usually everything...

Canon VIXIA HF S10 A read data from inernal flash memory.
    by abajor
Hello I've had somebody bring in one of these charming little cameras to attempt retrieving data from the internal 32GB flash.
Something is damaged inside the cameras lens assembly I can hear it clunking around and it has probably dislodged the sensor, powering up the camera gives a blank screen and the focus motor sounds like it's having a fit.
The camera will not connect to a computer via USB in this state, I have no options no navigation, just power up and focus/zoom motor noises.

I think my best shot is to figure out a way to read the internal flash memory outside...

Panasonic P42S30 Plasma - Pink sparkles
    by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

APC Smart UPS SUA1500 does not detect AC / doesn't turn on
    by CapLeaker
Sooo... I have an interesting victim today. Our special on the menu is a APC Smart UPS SUA1500. Looks like it's got Alzheimer or isn't smart anymore (dead, dumb as f@ck), but at the same time it isn't.
Battery is about a year old and they are good at a resting voltage of 26.5VDC. If I press the on button for 3 seconds it does turn the inverter on and I get 120VAC no problem at the back and the battery shows full. So it isn't the battery. It also charges the battery no problem when plugged in add that as a twist!
However if I plug it in with the battery attached it won't...

MSI Raider GE75 - Not posting, probable dead CPU
    by FiguringITout
Hello, today I'm working on this lovely MSI Raider GE75 gaming laptop which I bought to flip. Unfortunately, I believe the CPU is toast but I wanted a second opinion before I chucked it into my spare parts bin. I will not have most tools with me today as I'm away from my workbench but I have the basics (a good multimeter, a horrible iron, a solid screwdriver, and my trusty thermal cam). I do not have the original 230w charger, but I have a Dell 180w which was sold with the device and reportedly "worked fine for them".

Specs: I7-10750H, RTX 2060, 32GB RAM (unknown manufacturer)...

A2442 - No sound over internal speakers and no video playback
    by soeren
I am facing a strange issue, I don't have any sound over my internal MacBook speakers and also the video won't start. If I change to my head speaker or via HDMI (speaker on my external Display) the sound works over the head speaker or Display and also the video starts (ex. youtube).

All happened after the battery ran out of power overall several days when I was on vacation.

I tried to remove the battery and then reconnected the battery, and then the MacBook Pro 14 2021 won't accept any power from my power socket. Then I removed one speaker, connected again the battery...

    Fancoil.controller with current issues
    by edugimeno
Hi there! One friend called to say his fancoill (used for a main access cold Air courtain) controller caught fire, and asking if I could recover the half burnt board
He said the design was too bad as this thing was probably designed for hot water only, as the board was places right underneath the condenser radiators
I found some burnt traces and after a quick Google search for the board name (Pwr-05v-w) I could see an image of the original I was able to find where the original traces were going
The scheme seems simple, from what I understand mains gets into the while 3 lead...

Microsoft Surface Pro 4 1724 no power
    by johnbeton
    Hello,

This tablet has no power, no visual signs of corrosion or burned components.
    I notice V_ALWAY_ON_IN on PD5501 and PD5506 is 12V.
But VDD_BATA_PACK on PD5501 is 2.05V when the charger is plugged in, after a little over 1 minute VDD_BATA_PACK goes up to 6.16V
    FANG_PWR_F stays 0V.
    +3P3VSB_REG is only 1.98V
    +5VSB_REG is 0V

I cannot find shorted coils or coils with low resistance to ground except for the ones close to the PCH/CPU.
