Hi Folks,
I need help troubleshooting a BIOS repair - did I make a mistake?
**What happened:**
My laptop suddenly stopped starting. The caps lock LED blinked 3 times long, then 2 times short. After a while, it worked again. The next day, it wouldn't start at all, and now I'm getting 5 long blinks followed by 3 short blinks.
**What I've tried:**
- Ordered a new BIOS chip
- Dumped the old BIOS and flashed it back
- same error persists
- Examined the BIOS in UEFITool and found invalid entries - the BIOS appears to be corrupted... -
I removed this chip with markings "14 8A SA4" between an HDMI port and a USB port that was faulty. I need to replace it, but I have not been able to properly identify this chip using the markings provided on the chip itself. If anyone is able to provide information regarding this chip, I would greatly appreciate it.... -
