Not that I didn't expect the Raptor to have loud seeks...but I tried AAM, which didn't work. Then again, the Raptor line was originally designed for enterprise, where noise is much less of an issue.
This type of comparison (Raptor vs. 3.5" 7200RPM short-stroked) was done before with the VelociRaptor 300GB and ST31500341AS.
Not trying to disparage the Raptor, just pointing out that short-stroking a (comparatively) large, "slow" drive to the capacity of a small "fast" drive can in some cases give comparable performance by reducing the seek distance.
