I have noticed that certain brands sound similar, though. For an example, ADDA sleeve bearing fans when temperature controlled almost always make the same rapid hissing sound, or whisper-esque noise, and Delta fans also produce loud noises that they can be trademarked with. That being said, if a fan is failing it can make all sorts of unpleasant noises no matter the bearing.
