    You mean enough stress and pressure to remove lead from solder? Possibly. It didn't really help the reliability or longevity of electronics, though, which I'm sure is no mistake. As for being toxic, I see that as similar to CRTs vs. LCDs... you really can't compare the two in long term dependability even if the former is more "toxic". Unfortunately, even the problem of lead free solder isn't the only culprit, bad packages like BGA and QFN (unless used with extremely good lead and solder) present the same (or similar) eventual problem. All we can really do to avoid the problem (besides reflowing and reballing but even those seem like transient solutions...) is cool excessively and avoid many power cycles.
