Oh, I read about that. D: Sad to see an old Seagate go down like that, but, almost 40,000 hours of on time (with the first 3 years of use possibly having reached scorching temperatures, without case fans, IIRC?) is certainly worlds better than today's crap failing right after the one year warranty ends. I have read about a number of other 7200.7 failures that resulted in massive amounts of bad sectors like this - not that often an occurrence but it does happen.
