My first password removal is on a thinkpad X280 and after many attempts it works perfectly with this protocole and this two files.
I make it with a CH341A and a clamp without dessoldering the BIOS chip.
At the first time i tried with the Lenovo autopatch but at each time when i try to boot after flashing the patched file, there is a beep code who tell me there is a problem with the TPM. Try this BIOS file, let the machine boot first, then patch it and follow the steps from the autopatcher thread

The described Windows Key replacement seems to work, but doesn't survives an official BIOS update. Btw, to have a reliable programmer, I have bought a new Xgecu T76 + SO8 clip adapter. This programmer shows if pins are not connected properly and seems to be dependable.

Alright, after inspecting your BIOS backup, you actually have another issue in addition to the SVP. So, follow these instructions:
FIRST flash Type_20KE_BIOS_Ver_149_CSME_Clean+WinKey.rar and WAIT for your machine to boot
Only then proceed with the following steps in the correct order
1- Now Flash Type_20KE_BIOS_Ver_149_CSME_Clean_PATCHED.rar
2- Boot the machine and Press ENTER/F1/etc. to enter BIOS settings
3- Enter any character when asked for Supervisor Password
4- Press enter when it shows Hardware ID
5- Press space bar 2x when asked and then...Leave a comment:

The script doesn't work with THINKPAD X280 because this BIOS doesn't contain the LENV structure. To edit the serial number, try the lenovo u1 tool. Sometimes need to transfer all block from org bios....Leave a comment:

Means, I have a running X280 again (without Windows key) but I could extract the original Windows key of that device from the corrupted BIOS.

My apologies in advance if this has been discussed but doing a search for USB, PD, 5v, 20v etc leads to tons of results on unrelated topics.
Lenovo Thinkpad X280 working fine, 8250U, 16GB, no supervisor password, I would exclude BIOS/SW settings as this is evident even with the machine is turned off: If I measure the V/A between the laptop's USB-C port and the charger I see that this specific machine (I have another X280 to test with), does not negotiate 20v when the AC adapter is connected. Find U184, backup it from the working X280 with an SPI flash programmer, and try flashing it to the non working one (make a backup first of course)
U184 is shared between Thunderbolt controller and USB-C PD controller

hi, i've been following this post for a few months, I tried this multiple times on my x280 and this is what happened.
my most recent attempt, I removed the CMOS battery and the battery from it and pressed the power button for 30 seconds so i make sure all the power is gone.
I patched the bios with the lenovo autopatcher and have the patched version.
While the clamp is still on the thinkpad x280 laptop, I use NeoProgrammer to program the BIOS chip.
It goes by erase -> program -> verify -> blankcheck and all becomes successful. I boot the laptop, reboots...Leave a comment:

Lenovo Thinkpad x280 20KE charging stuck at 5v
Hello,
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad x280 20KE, motherboard (EX280 NM-B521). After a disintegrated main charge port the laptop will not charge above 5v. The main port was changed twice, the charger was changed and the second USB C port has the same issue and is also falling apart(all after normal use). All the pins on the new port are making contact and I tried all methods I could find to fix it and spend days making sure everything was right with the port and still have the same issue. The laptop is well up to date. I also included the schematic diagram.
