• hp omen 15-dh1015nl does not turn on

Hi everyone, I have this gaming laptop that during the usage suddenly shutted down. I disassemble it and take some mesurments. I have a lab supplier and a thermocam. I tryed injected voltage at the DCIN connector and I see this little chip went up to 85 deg (at 19V) this chip should control the battery charge. Next i mesure the resistence at the big coils on top of it and the value is 0,4ohm so dead short.. Those 4 phases are the power supply of the Nvidia GPU?
I tried to inject 1V at that coil and i get 1.35A dwawn but nothing heat up...

• Wooow, there's still people introducing themselves even to this day.

The zoomers yearn for the forums. Me included although I never really stopped using them, but I've found myself signing up for more and more these past few years.

I'm an ex-field technician, and to be honest I came here solely for the U1 tool. My version is about 4 years old and doesn't work as I remember it should, I don't even really know *why* I need it, I just know that my legit version errors out.
I've worked in the repair side of things professionally for about 5ish years now. Before I was...

• Hello!

Just noticed this original “introduction” forum. I find it nice to know other members better, so let's introduce myself too. But first I want to mention my old computer junk hanging out somewhere in the house. My first computer was a Philips P2000. This was a robust reliable machine and my exemplar was a limited edition with 512 Kb memory (64 was standard). I tried some assembler programming and that was YUK! I agree 100% with Topcat if it is about machine code or 3GL programming languages. My second computer was a Philips MSX-II. Played with Turbo Pascal, Basic, but still...

• Hi,
I also just got one HP 4540s with similar problem. After plugging in the power adapter power led blinks few times and the fan spins for a second and after that full shutdown fan stops and all lights go dark. I don't have the battery to test it.
Pressing the power button turns the fan on and few blinks from power led and after a second full shut down by itself.
After disassembly mainboard behaves the same with no cpu, ram, wlan or anything connected to it except power adapter, tried with more adapters, same story, they all work on other laptops.
Power button works fine,...

Hi everyone,

I'm the latest one to join the ever growing group of thousands of people screwed by the horrible HP bios upgrade that bricks your laptop

Anyway, I'm currently waiting for the 8 pin clamp adapter to arrive in the mail, because I'm extremely bad with soldering irons. I'm trying to reflash the eeprom without desoldering the chip.

I've taken the HDD out of the laptop, and I've inspected the HP folder in the EFI system partition. I've found a log file that hilariously says that everything went perfectly fine! (hahahah, YEAH, SURE!) and a "reconstructed"...

• HP Omen 15-ek0013dx - Odd 4-Zone RGB Issue, Replacing Entire Keydeck Didn't Fix It

Replaced the keyboard+LED backlight+topdeck unit with a completely assembled aftermarket part a few months ago due to failing keys (Spacebar, X, R; seems to be a common issue for 2020 model). I thought this would also fix my RGB backlight issue but the problem remains, actually it got worse, so it has to be a failing part on the mobo itself. The middle RGB zone can no longer light up blue and is instead stuck on green, even if all kb backlight is turned off that zone stays lit..

Does anyone know what part number the IC labeled UI3 is? Seems to be some kind of LED controller chip....

• Here are some suggestions:

1) Confirm if the large cable @ CN200 are linked to the keyboard.
2) Locate the replacement keyboard on the internet. Often, the same replacement part will be compatible with other models from the same vendor, HP.
3) Then hunt for the alternate HP models for which there may be schematics available. That is, we can learn from the available schematics on the pinout for this same keyboard cable (assuming it is a keyboard).
4) Then using a multimeter, you can trace this SOT23-5 device and hunt as to where it travels onto this connector. To...

Hi, I need schematic or boardview, I need to know what resistor to replace the one highlighted, when I soldered the bios chip back one resistor flew off, I tried replacing it with another one but the one I put is a little bit larger and now the laptop turns on for 3-4 seconds and turns off and on back again.

• I hate to say it, but I just cannot recommend either Windows 10 or 11 for old people. It's a tricky OS (yes I grouped both into singular thing, because they are) and there way too many things "going on" or try to regularly steal your focus from whatever you are doing. You can quiet it down a bit if you take the time to go through every single setting to disable everything that your mother may not have a use for (read: this may take you upwards of a few hours... which is exactly why I HATE setting up Win10/11). Alternatively, you could use something like Tiny 10 or Tiny 11 - a stripped-down...

• HP compaq NC6400, LA-2952P, white screen

good morning

I've had this laptop sitting at home for many years with this defect, and now I have some free time and I'd like to fix it.

9 years ago I tried to sell it to a woman, she kept it at her house for a few days and then returned it to me broken (hinge). I bought the hinge and a new flat, thinking the problem was in the flat, and it wasn't...

The screen connector part is in the photo below, I measured the voltages with a simple multimeter and the measurements were as follows:

1: 1,3V
2: 1,2V
4: 1,3V
5: 1,3V...

• Quanta 0P5 (DA0P5HMB8E0-Rev E) Missing ACDRV

I have an HP 15-DY laptop in because the battery is not charging.

If I use a charged battery, the laptop powers on but the battery will not charge, however the orange charge light does turn on. The laptop loses power as soon as I disconnect the battery.

I've replaced the BQ247 chip with a known working one and I get the same issue and the same measurements.

Measurements are as follows:

BQ728 IC
VCC (Pin 20) => 19V
CMSRC (Pin 3) => 0.8V (This is a problem but I can't figure out what's causing the low voltage)
ACDRV (Pin...

• Beginner's guidelines

You have a laptop that does not power on, powers on but shows no image, crashes, etc… You want to fix it but you don't know where to start.

There are 2 situations:

You just want your laptop fixed
You want to learn about fixing laptops
Sorry, but if you're in situation number 1, we recommend you to use the services of a trustworthy professional repair shop.
Unfortunately, if you're not serious about learning, you will waste your time and money, and you will make us waste our time as well.

If you are in situation number 2, then...

Hi guys, I need a big help.
i don't have 5valw, (pu12)
the signal (pin 1) from pu12 has 0,11v.
I go back and it comes straight from the EC (pin128) same thing, no sulfate or anything.
then looking at the diagram I see that pr185 is not present, but if you have 3.3v so I make the bridge, now the mother is with a consumption of 50ma put the source. but there is no case nor responds the power button.
With this if I have 5valw.
I leave measurements I made

4 25.4v

• HP Victus 15-FA1025NL , board DAG3PAMB8D0 REV:D, shorted CPU DrMOS and n-mos

Hi to all,
the owner of this machine gave it to me after having opened it to take off the dust from the inside, telling me that after that it didn't start anymore.
I found that one of the DrMOS (AOZ5016QI) on the CPUCORE was shorted between VIN and VSWH, and that one of the two n-mos connected to the power jack was shorted aswell.
I unsoldered the two shorted components and verified that there were no other short circuits, then decided to power the mainboard, firstly with the lab power supply, then with its original HP 200w charger, but the behaviour is the same, the board starts...

Also I have got an HP power adapter 230W and I have borrowed an adapter to try 7.4x5.0mm -> 4.5x3.0mm center pin). Its lowering the AD_ID value so after adapter AD_ID is only 0.6V (thinks its a 65w charger) and the laptop not reacting to power button (obviously). So I know that EC is working at least that part.
