This laptop hangs on Dell logo and gives 2 amber, 4 white blink code (service manual suggest RAM failure). I tried another bios from "bios archives" and got a solid white light which blinks when the charger is plugged in. Processor gets hot enough to turn on the fans and the fans spin constantly even though the lid is closed. All voltages seem to be present and no low resistance on any of the inductors. My Dell XPS 9310 (motherboard LA-J143P) is stuck at 5V 170mA on my USB-C meter.

I checked all voltages on the 2 PD controllers and all are good.
I checked with my oscilloscope and I have a communication on CC lines.

For now the only thing I found it's :
- the EC chip is quite hot with thermal camera around 30°C
- PR208 (a 2R2 resistor) is a little burnt but still measure good. This resistor goes to intersil charger chip on DCIN

I am not an expert on PD controller and USB-C I don't know what to test next.

I've got a XPS 13 9310 2-in-1 with what I assumed was a hardware error, but browsing this forum I see that people have gotten the same issue fixed with BIOS modifications.

Symptoms:
- Warning about factory mode at start
- Fans at 100%
- No service tag set, and when I set it in the BIOS it just reverts to blank.
- Shows 8AC6D992 on POST

I'd be grateful if someone had some tips for me. It's a nice machine and it would be a waste not to have it fixed.

i have an DELL XPS 13 9310 to repair.

It's mainly a Gen 11th I7 with 32GB of RAM.
The error is that it flashes 2x amber and 4x white, which indicates a RAM Error according to dell.
I had a dell logo and wasn't able to access BIOS menu.
I measured the the surroundings of the RAM and used a thermal camera to see anything abnormal. I couldn't find an issue.
So I decided to re-flash the BIOS, because it has no BIOS battery and the use case of the laptop, i wanted to eliminate a kind of corrupt BIOS.

I would be grateful for the boardview file for the XPS 9310 LA-J143P motherboard. It's almost the same as the LA-H811P in the 9300 but it seems the location of some of the config strap resistors have changed. Explicitly the straps for enabling/disabling the two memory channels.
