Dell Latitude 7410 dead and amber light as long power button is pressed.
Hello.
I received a bios locked 7410 with 25Q256JVEQ ,i dump the bios, unlocked it and flash it back, since then the laptop has no life signs at all except amber led on for as long the power button is pressed, nothing else.
Fact #1 i was unaware that 25Q256JVEQ is 3.3v and i used a 5v CH341A to program it, not sure if the chip got damaged but since then i can read it and write it normally, doesn't seem dead.
Fact #2 i modded the CH341A to 3.3v, same results with programming though, nothing changed.
Fact #3 i tried hard reset with cmos/main battery disconnected and power... -
Well I don't see any, there is no such connector on back of the motherboard and also Dell describes exactly this on 7410 product specs.
Perhaps AI is confused with E7410 ?

Are you sure?
Yes, the Dell Latitude 7410 has a coin cell battery (also known as a CMOS or RTC battery) to maintain system time and BIOS settings, separate from the main laptop battery. It is typically a CR2032 3V battery with a 2-wire connector that connects to the motherboard.
On the Dell Latitude 7410, the CR2032 (coin cell) battery is located on the underside of the motherboard (system board), requiring significant disassembly to access. Unlike many other models where it is visible immediately after removing the back cover, it is "hidden" on the top-facing...Leave a comment:

Hi, I have a Dell Latitude 7410 (motherboard LA-J261P FDX40) that won't turn on. Fans spin but the screen is black, no logo or anything.
I made a backup of the bios with a CH341A, the chip is a W25Q256JVEIQ. I verified the dump twice and it seems fine, but ME Analyzer gives me an error about "MFS Low Level File 12", so I think the ME region is corrupted.
Service tag: 7JWK273
Can someone help me clean the ME region or check the file? I'm attaching the dump here. Thanks!...Leave a comment:

Dell Latitude 7410 no charge
Hello all!
Today i got a 7410 that doesn't detect charger at all, like no charger is inserted.
In battery information on BIOS there is no response when i insert charger (line "unknown watt" message. I tried other charger but no luck. Something is wrong with type C connector or circuit.
I have absolutely no idea how type C chargers are working so any advice will be great

Hello.
Had a small delay for 2 reasons, first i ordered and received a lot of working 7410 so now i can take measurements from a fully working board and comprare.
Second i managed to get boardview https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...01#post3785901
So the Source Gate on fully working is 260K. Is this the normal resistance or 175K is still low?
UPDATE: took measurement on faulty...Last edited by Andreasbest; 12-16-2025, 01:08 PM.Leave a comment:

Hello,
I’m repairing a Dell Latitude 7410 (board ID LDX40 / LA-J263P) that is stuck in a boot loop: no screen, just flashing diagnostic LEDs (3 amber / 6 white).
I need a dump of the main BIOS SPI chip (16 MB) to reflash using a CH341A/AsProgrammer.
I don’t need the smaller EC chip — just the main BIOS.
Specifically, I’m looking for a 16 MB BIOS bin file (~16,777,216 bytes) compatible with this board version.
If you have a clean working dump (your own backup) or know where I can safely download one, I’d be extremely grateful.

I am having the same issue with my laptops. I tried 2 laptops which were bio locked. I de-solder the bios chip on both, flashed them and then soldered them back. After that both the laptop are not turning ON, no activity.Amber light turns On when pressing power button. Can not figure out what could be the issue. On 1 laptop which is dell latitude 5400 i can see that i am missing a resistor near the bios chip. Don't know what to do next. On 2nd laptop which is 7410, i cannot see any missing part. Any guide on what can i try to fix those laptops.Leave a comment:
