Hey people.

So my boy broke his old laptop and I got him a new store return for a great price.

Problem is that it has had the motherboard replaced and the technician didn't fix the model type in bios (not serial either so no windows license) just say's alderlake. Now the software to control the laptop checks the model type in bios to install so that's a problem.

I did some research and tried to edit the information but with no luck. Would the correct approach be to dump the complete bios and hex edit the info then reflash? Is there an easier approach?...

Can some one pls clear bios password for me. thank you all!

Hi I have been working on the computers since the early 2000s. I taught myself how to build computers and now I am trying to upgrade memory on an Acer predator Helios 18. However, and doing so, I think one of the pens got bent on the port that the battery connects to on the motherboard. Are there any work arounds to fix this? Or am I going to need to send it in to have a new port put on it? Thank you so much!

can anybody kindly share the schematics?
i downloaded a few pdf from here not sure if it was the correct ones, i need the stepdown converter, SY8288CRAC_QFN20_3X3.
i ordered a few from Ali Express and a qfn20 adapter, it does not fit onto the adapter board well.
adapter board I used

the chip 1 side or some legs get soldered with the head, and some legs don't make contact as I tested it, maybe because the board size is incorrect or the chip itself is custom and not the right size....

I try to fix this motherboard no power missing 19v
the first DCIN PQB11 mosfet receiveide 19v in drain.
the test i have done :
Mosfet PQB11 and PQB12 check and change still have no power
Charging IC PUB1 check step:
-VCC pin 28 = 19V
-ACDET pin 6 =2,62V
-REGN pin 24 = 6V
-CMSRC pin 3 = 0V
At this step i replaced IC but still problem no voltage in gate on 2 dcin mosfet
What i missing?

Consumption analysis: At powering ON, consumption increases to 1-2mA, later it remains at 0mA.

Shorts check: No present
25Q64 memory with 3.3V: OK, when power on pushed
25Q64 memory read: not reading

Hi there all, 1st post here. I wasn't aware there were guys out there doing this for people! (how, well I haven't a clue lol but 😎👍 badass!), So when I found y'all, I was happy, but not too happy quite yet - although my issue seems to be less severe than many I've seen here who have been happily helped, so there's that.

The GPU is recognised in windows but with an error, up on testing I found +1.35VSDGPU is missing for the Video Ram.

Coils (PLW1 & PLW2) read 78ohms on the video ram side when I lifted one side to isolate the video ram. I believe this is normal, let me know please?

Up on powering up no attempt is seen of any voltage on the coils.

The power supply (RT8816B) is receiving 2.6v on the enable pin.

There is 19v on the switching Mosfets (PQW1 & PQW2) via PLW3.

Power good output from RT8816GB remains at...

I have this laptop: charging light is on when connected to the charger, when I push the power button you can hear the fans spinning for a three seconds, the keyboard backlight it turning on, the caps lock key is unresponsive, no image on screen. Only a couple of times it booted with image for a few seconds and then reboots to black screen. When it is frozen with black screen and lit keyboard, I can keep pressed the power button to shut it completely.

the laptop came as no power as one rail was short (pom2 was short and as result the dc in fet was gone pob11)

that is fixed and now EC - PLT_RST# present so laptop should work

did try multiple bios and EC bios but not working

So that is 1.2v power supply according to the schematic. Un-solder jumper PJM2 and then see which side of that jumper the short is on. It feeds the Ram and CPU. Remove the ram if not removed to see if that makes a difference. Otherwise if it is on CPU side and not the ram then could be dead CPU.

But I am not sure what resistance that cpu should be, Can be pretty low.

EDIT - I just checked an Acer Predator 300 Helios ( [B]LA-J891P[/B]) that I am working on that still boots but with secondary GPU issue and the CPU measures 6 ohms on one coil and 3 ohms on the others....
