Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
I should have, but I don't have one. So that's why the 19V adapter.
Something was wrong, because the current ran up to 3,2A and that is a big short or the board was killing itself due to high current. Every hot component I took out, didn't help, the short still remained. And then, when the PCH start getting hot I had to stop, because I can't replace a BGA....

Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
I took of U3241 but no result. Now the PCH was getting red hot. That one I can't do.
The more components I take off around the PCH, L's and C's, the harder the short seems to be. Now I give up and don't spend more time, I spend already about a 3 weeks to fix this one.
Highpulse and FDDizon, thanks for your input and help

Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
U did that and attached the 19V to pin 1 of Q2806.
Now U2901 (RT8205C) got real hot, I took it out, but still a short there.
L2901, C2901, C2902, L3241 and L3242 got warm, but U3241 ( EC1PG) is getting red hot. (I still have to find the real partnumber.)
Multiple shortage??...

Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
I don't geet it, should I forget about JP3001 ?
On the 6 mosfets near the cpu I got 0V
It was a mistake, I only got 0,64V on the mosfet near the power connector Q2806., sorryLast edited by hansie55; 12-03-2015, 07:06 AM.

0,64v, which I also have on some mosfets over the board...Last edited by hansie55; 12-03-2015, 05:51 AM.

I think it's best you tell me where on the picture, I don't have schematic and read from other schematics I find dangerous....

Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
I'm sorry, but I can't find the mosfet where the 0.95V pin 3 (ID) is going to. I tried with the meter all over the board. I can follow the line about 10 cm till a component that is not assembled and then it disapears in the board and the onliest place I can find it on the other side is on the docking connector, I know that HP needs the ID pin, else it will not work,
so I was looking for the track on the mobo already but could not find it.
The voltages are in the pictureLast edited by hansie55; 12-03-2015, 04:32 AM.

Thx a lot, I understand. What I don't know yet is where to connect the wire on the mobo

Re: Everything looks connected to gnd
Near CPU socket everything is 0V.
On picture I put the measured voltages around the power connector.
The power ID (pin3) is only 0.95 V at the connector, while the input is 18,4V
I don't have a labpowersupply, is there any way I can simulate that?...Last edited by hansie55; 12-02-2015, 11:44 AM.

Thx Highpulse,
Boardcode: Cure_Dis-HR_HPB
there is nothing out there, I have to try without and locating parts is difficult.

Everything looks connected to gnd
On the mobo from HP8560p it have a short to gnd, but it looks to be all over the board in different areas. Is there a general supply where this can be generated.? the mobo is totally dead, I have 18,4V on Vin of the RT8205C.
The rest is all zero. I changed it for a TPS51125, but no result/
Both with the Ohm meter and Diode meter I get 0 in the 3V and 5V connections.
No short in the big capacitors or coils.
So Vbatt and Vadp are present but the V3A and V5A are shorted to gnd.
And most likely the rest too. No schematics, so I try to find things via datasheets of...

Re: HP Elitebook 8560p pw need help pls.
Reflow did not work, I will leave this board as is and proceed with the second one and open a new thread for it....

Re: HP Elitebook 8560p pw need help pls.
Thx both of you, I will try.
Can you also check the problem in the second mobo for me and advise?
I have 2 mobo's now so I could compare.

Re: HP Elitebook 8560p pw need help pls.
Board is disassembled with the cooling assy and fan on it, so it is not too hot.
Unlucky me, the vga video has stopped also/
I bought a second laptop from which the display is broken and the mobo suppose to be ok. This was not the case, mobo is dead.
I found chip U2901 (CL=DL M25) getting very hot and in different area's, you measure a short at the small capacitors and on chip U13(JMB700) you measure
a lot of pins short to gnd. more than the first board.
There are no schematics available,...

Re: In-circuit eeprom programming
[QUOTE=stj;609586]you cant read a chip in circuit for 2 reasons.
1: it's already hooked up to other chips that are putting voltage on it's data pins.
2: it may be in parallel with other serial devices like temperature sensors.
In circuit does not necessarily mean with power on, so system off and there is no voltage on no pin.
I put the ch341a in usb with 5V supply and it reads the entire 8mb.Re: In-circuit eeprom programming
