Re: Using a non contact voltage detector
I understand.
I have another Samsung LN40A550P3FXZA that I am trying to sort out. The guy told me that the high voltage side is usually to blame for the problems that I am experiencing.
Just thought I would find a good way to check the board for proper power output.
I wish I could find a schematic to tell exactly what voltages I should be getting from each point.

Re: Using a non contact voltage detector
A guy from shopjimmy told me this.
If you have a voltage detector you can try holding it near the high voltage lines that go from the power supply to the inverter and see if you get anything on them. Please don't try and use a meter to measure this as its high frequency and can damage your meter.
So I am a little confused.
Thanks for taking time to help me.

Using a non contact voltage detector
Could I use a non contact voltage detector to check for faulty components on a tv power board?
If so,which one would you guys recommend?

Re: Samsung LN40A550P3FXZA video issues
No faint glow. I can see an image when I shine a light through the back of the screen.
So that tells me that the backlight has an issue.
What should I do next?

Samsung LN40A550P3FXZA video issues
I have this Samsung 40 inch it has been working fine since it was bought.
That was until I decided to get up one more morning and play some Xbox.
I turned the tv on like usual and began playing a game.
15 minutes into playing the screen went black but the sound remained.
I thought it may have been my cables so I tried another hdmi and av cables
the screen was still black but you could hear sound.
I turned the tv off and let it sit for a few minutes and tried to watch a dvd from my blu ray player. Again, a few minutes into the movie the screen goes...
