Sorry for the late reply! I haven't been doing mail in repairs before but that is no reason not to start. I have fixed many screens with the same faults before. What are your plans for shipping?

  • Re: computer PS to power two HansG 281D ?? HELP PLEASE

Thanks for suggestions: I guess repair is really the only option.

I resized as per FAQ ... hope they stick correctly.

This is the ps that had some cap replaced ... those caps are without the black dot markings on the top ... I can get the exact specs on the replacements installed if needed: basically same values but with higher temp ratings (all based on previous recommendations I have seen here on the forum) but as available as far as make

pink on the images is (I think) thanks...

This is what I have on hand http://support.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1432&ID=1543

    (by my minimal electrical understanding)
Running the two rails together gives me enough for the 24V as long as I dont turn on both monitors simultaneously. I can use 2@ 19v laptop ps @4.5 A for the 18V and a 5V wall wart for the +5Vsb. I have all these sitting in a box.

I already tried to have the 1 psm217 fixed professionally twice (and get quotes of $70/hr at a third computer shop, if in...

  • computer PS to power two HansG 281D ?? HELP PLEASE

Does anyone have the accurate pinout diagram & specs for the PSM217-404-H-R ?? I have two of these 281D and both ps are toast ... recap on one didnt resolve the issue. I am trying to find enough info to see if a PC ATX (20 or 24 pin) 400watt would have the ability to drive both of them through a breadboarded adapter.

Optionally, a ps I am thinking of using is a design to supplement power to higher end graphics card, not a regular motherboard (only plugs into a PCIe card, and an adapter that gets the ground/startup signal from the PC ATX connect to the 24 pin motherboard connector)....

Greetings from a fellow Canuck! R U doing repairs professionally? I have 2 ps for iF281D that have died. One was recapped by a tech but still doesnt start, the other no longer starts after having slow starts for a long time. I dont really have steady hands to be doing small detail soldering etc. Jon

  • Re: Hanns-G HG281D, LCD Monitor no power

Good to know! ..LOL ... and how many of these have you had under your soldering gun?

Fingers & toes are (virtually) crossed.

I am thinking of having a molex connector leads soldered in to run a fan .... but I have no schematics (or meter) and the links for schematics in the thread (AFAIK) are not having correct result ..

G isnt getting me there either == only found a 'typical' PS schematic http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/big/12b4-a6-6c52.jpg

Thanks for that .. it helps! When I took the PS to the store, it was pointed out that a trace had lifted on the bottom. I knew that the one I left home had 60% of the very same trace missing or lifted: that is why that it didnt go to store yet

I have a stock pic where I highlited that trace, but havent checked the image size to upload it here for comment. The area of the break has discoloration from heat I guess. Just hope there wasnt damage I cant see.

They used a jumper wire to 'repair'...

Sorry, I tried getting clear pix before repairs started, but none were of value to post.

I have 2 of the infamous I-inc 281D (Hans G) with psm217-404-H-R that died after having a hard time getting started for about a week. I have been trying to have fixed locally (I have carpal so hands are too shaky for detailed work). I had hopes to do by myself due to limited $, but couldnt risk doing damage.

After lots of dead ends or $50-$70/hr quotes from repair shops, I found a electronic parts store that was willing to do...

Greetings from the beautiful Niagara Region in Ontario Canada.

I have always rebuilt/reuse whenever practical ... grease and oil are your friend on a farm !!

I got here because my two Hans 28" monitors are officially dead. I have got to get them fixed before my eyes completely leave my head bcz I am working on a 15" screen backup monitor.

Trouble is that I have carpal tunnel, so my hands jitter, and have no training or tools for doing the repair. Also, I cant just walk into...
