Yes indeed on both accounts- I'm digitizing some early 70's home movies for my Mom's birthday.
This project's been on the back-burner for a long long time. I've considered trying to wire in some LED's, but 15 hours of standard bulb life would likely get me by......

Re: 1.5 amps vs. 3 amps DJL vs. DJA
Thanks redwire! This was the kinda answer I was looking for. DJA is the one rated for 3 amps that I know my projector can use, however I found some DJL's rated at 1.5 amps, for a very good price. Most of the "info" I saw said that the two had the same W and V ratings, and it was only the amps that were different. I think this is just typical internet disinformation, or I just wasn't paying close enough attention. What's this "inrush current" you speak of? The Ansco 88 does have a cooling fan, btw, and the badge clearly states...

1.5 amps vs. 3 amps DJL vs. DJA
sorry I'm a nooby, and I can't seem to find a straight answer. If I have a bulb socket that is rated 120v 150W 3amps, and there's another bulb with the same form factor, only difference is it's rated at 1.5 amps, can I use it as a replacement?
The bulb place says it's a "possible" match, and I don't mind if it is more dim, I just don't want to fry my projector. If I blow the bulb, at least I tried. It's an old Anscovision 88, but the mechanical is still good.

Cool, it's priced to sell. Maybe I'm a bit masochistic, but I think swapping panels is fun....

Re: TH-42PX80U & TC-P42X1 Panny Panasonic
This is exactly the kind of general information I was looking for, and it seems the hardest to track down on the net. I guess if I had been paying attention to this kind of stuff for the past 10 years, I'd already be caught up. I've decided to really motivate on metal conservation, and e-waste elimination. There's plenty of 'junk' displays out there, so finding them's the easy part. I've found a service manual or two, and a 42" they didn't make a service manual for, which I found very irresponsible (of the industry)....

Re: TH-42PX80U & TC-P42X1 Panny Panasonic
1500 does seem ridiculous, however I've got one up on craigslist for $20.00. Is this asking too much? It's not like there were other ones up to compare it to.
I'm sure if it was hooked to a better A board, it would be a fine part....

Noise filter question...
Can I replace GL-2080FVP-XLW with GL-2080FVP-L ? It appears that the form factor of the harness requires a switch of the L and N female quick slides. -XLW has a metal (grounding?) contact plate soldered to it's body. -L does not....

Re: TH-42PX80U & TC-P42X1 Panny Panasonic
It appears that if it would work, I would have to reverse the wire harness pins or female quick slides. I can guess which one's easier.
I think I got the model numbers wrong... It's GL-2080FVP-L in replacement of GL-2080FVP-XLW. Every time I plug into the original filter, it immediately fries the fuses on the PS so I've grown suspicious of the filter. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but regardless, I sourced this replacement part for free, so if I can use it, great, if I can't, so be it.
I'm so...Last edited by apetay; 01-02-2014, 12:31 AM.

Re: TH-42PX80U & TC-P42X1 Panny Panasonic
This indeed was going to be an attempt at swapping the working 42PX80U panel into the TC-P42X1 with glass damaged in transit, but now I know it won't be worth the trip. Thanks for the help folks! So on to my plan B...
Can I swap these? They are obviously not the same part and rated a little differently but they do the same thing, essentially, right?
852318 is the one that I am suspicious is at fault for blowing the fuses on the power supply (LSJB1260-1 AN), and 852085 is tested working (harvested from a Toshiba...Last edited by apetay; 01-01-2014, 10:01 PM. Reason: Photo did not upload, poor grammar edit, added info

TH-42PX80U & TC-P42X1 Panny Panasonic
Photos are from TH-42PX80U Feb of 2008, and I can't figure out which number is the part number. Sorry I'm new at this.
I'm wondering if they were still using the same plasma panel and glass in June of 09 in the TC-P42X1. If not, then it will save me a trip.
It looks essentially the same from what I could find on the net.
If anyone has detailed information on how parts get numbered, I'm all ears....Last edited by apetay; 01-01-2014, 04:57 AM.

Re: maxent p420542hm8 flickers when warm, solution and question
So, I've been through the entire rebuild from the bottom up including switching to a known good plasma screen. I still get start-up flicker, menus available for a second or two, and then just black screen. I guess I was wrong about it being the D controller.
Must be the damn A board. Should I cook it in the oven, or shoot at it with the heat gun?

Re: maxent p420542hm8 flickers when warm, solution and question
I have a MX-42X3 that's been sitting in wait for a year. I traced the symptoms on screen and voltages to a faulty "logic board" or whatever else you want to call it. I finally tracked down a replacement D board, or T-con board if you prefer (although I believe that nomenclature is reserved for LCD?). It's in the price range I can afford, and it came from an in-transit smashed screen model, so it's likely still good. TNPA3654AC. It is an exact match, so I'm hoping there will be no need to update the firmware....

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here
I'm no master, but perhaps LCD / Plasma veterinarian of 5 years. I like bringing display technologies back to life. I would like to discuss materials, firmware, technical manuals, and layouts. My soldering technique has improved 10 fold.
Right now I need to replace a D board in something that resembles a Panasonic, it's a 2005 Maxent mx-42x3. I have searched for tnpa3654ac installation, but have yet to find a post specific to the details. I think instead of starting a new thread, I'll join this one:
